The festival scene in the United Kingdom is largely dominated by England; Reading and Leeds, Boardmasters and Glastonbury consistently attracting huge numbers of music fans every summer.

They are undoubtedly fantastic events and more than deserving of their status. But there is definitely something to be said for trying something new. Why not travel north of the border to Scotland this summer for the very first Black Isle Calling festival?

Black Isle Calling will occur between 13-14 September in association with Black Isle Brewery. For lovers of craft beer and folk and guitar music, Black Isle Calling’s debut weekend could be unmissable.

Close to Inverness, September’s festival will leave Feedback’s fingers crossed for an Indian summer allowing up and coming acts to shine.

The most popular act confirmed at the event is from across the pond with Huey Morgan’s Fun Lovin’ Criminals. The New York rap/rock band have been performing since 1993 and will take to the Black Isle Calling stage as the headliner on 13 September.

Keep an ear out for Elephant Sessions; the indie-folk band have grown in popularity in recent times gaining them fans as far away as Australia. They are relative newcomers and ones to watch before they explode.

The band from the Scottish highlands accrue 40,000 monthly listeners and have written four albums and folk hits such as ‘Wet Field Day’.

Motherwell group, The Lafontaines will be playing on the 14th September. Famed for their high energy performances and fan interactivity, The Lafontaines have previously played at major festivals T In The Park and Reading & Leeds.

Their energetic track Alpha is a fan favourite amongst Lafontaines fans from their 2019 album Junior. It is well worth a listen, as is the new single, ‘Since You Made a Move’ if you enjoy a classic indie rock sound.

The line-up is now confirmed and the festival has also announced the choice of Scotland-based RNLI Kessock Lifeboat as its official charity partner.

On site, family-friendly camping is available and tickets are on sale here.
