Iconic local venue, The Leadmill, who held a number of world famous artists wins first court hearing preventing them from being evicted.
In a statement posted on social media, they said: “We have won our first battle in court and taken one step closer in our bid for survival.”
The Leadmill Sheffield’s longest running music venue.
It has held the likes of Jimi Hendrick’s, Small Faces, Pulp, and Arctic Monkeys amongst many other legendary musicians.
The case was held on 20 and 21 May 2024, at King’s Counsel, in the Leeds Business & Property court.
Judge Recorder Mohyuddin, hearing the case, said there is “a real prospect of success” after hearing various witness statements over the course of the trial.
The case was then sent to high court in response to the statements.
Dominic Madden, CEO of The Electric Group claimed to change the name of the local venue if the eviction case proves successful.
The Electric group have been contacted for a comment.
