By Charlie Fenton

23 May 2024

If you live in the North West, the bank holiday weekend has an embarrassment of riches when it comes to live music in the area. Feedback have done the searching for you to find the best musicians you have never heard of before that are playing for free of for a small fee over the long weekend. Enjoy!

Friday 24 May Top Pick – Close Counters @ Band on the Wall, Manchester

What venue are they playing?

Band on the Wall, 25 Swan Street Northern Quarter Manchester M4 5JZ

How much is it?

For £13, get ready to catch some neo-soul disco with Close Counters this weekend. The Djing duo are award winning musicians and you can tell. It’s only a matter of time until these two blow up, (Currently on 48k listeners) so why not be one who can brag about seeing them before, ayy.

The lads from Melbourne, Australia will get your body moving and keep it groovin with tunes like THIRD GEAR and SOULACOASTA from their first album SOULACOASTA  but also a selection of tunes from their second award winning record, SOULACOASTA II

Saturday 25 May Top Pick – Last Reserves @ Outpost, Liverpool

What venue are they playing?

Outpost, 77 Renshaw Street, Liverpool, L1 2SJ

How much is it?

If you are looking for a bit of mayhem this weekend, well Last Reserves have got you sorted. Originally formed in 2014, the four piece claim to be keeping the 70’s punk sound alive with the modern era. They certainly are and for £6 it seems a worthy experience.

Before the band get on stage you can enjoy two other up and coming bands in Koves and Thirst from around 7:30 pm onwards.

Monday 26 May Top Pick – Tara Clerkin Trio @ PINK, Stockport

What venue are they playing?

PINK Second Floor, Hilton House, Lord Street, SK1 3NA, Stockport, UK

How much is it?

My most expensive pick of the week for the North West Area is Tara Clerkin Trio. The psychedelic trip pop trio will certainly give you a good time if you are into the likes of Mac DeMarco and DMA’s. The band are made up of Pat, Sunny, and Tara who are legends of the Bristol scene.

Doors open at 7 pm where you can also catch a selection of DJ’s before the trio take to the stage.
